Pig on the runway
I was doing a check ride in a C-172 in Honolulu. My nephew, Mike, was in the back seat. On short final to the runway, the instructor said, "There's a pig on the runway." I figured that was Hawaiian for, "There"s an obstruction on the runway, you have to go around." As we were climbing out Mike said, "I didn't see any pig." Mike soon figured out the Hawaiian code for "Go around." The following summer and fall, Mike earned his private pilot license. He was the only kid in his high school with a pilot license! Two years after that he would earn his instrument rating.
